Potential Challenges
This are a list of just some potential actions you could take to challenge white supremacy. Choose one from below or come up with your own!

Count the number of artworks by white artists you own. Calculate roughly how much money you spent on them all.
If you own art books, look through them and see how many feature the work of white artists on the cover
Donate to a local arts organization whose board and staff are NOT majority white
Buy a work of art from a local artist who you have not supported before who is not white
Sign up to donate monthly to the patreon (or equivalent) of a local artist who is not white
Attend an REI Groundwater training or another trusted racial equity training.
Research the painting "Open Casket" by Dana Schultz to find out why it was protested against. Research the topic of cultural appropriation further and discuss what you learned with a friend.
Research a local organization that is doing work to dismantle white supremacy. Reach out to volunteer with them. Follow through.
Research "Rachel Dolezal" and research the topic of cultural appropriation. Discuss what you learned with a friend.
Research the demographics of both the boards and the leadership for the largest arts organizations in your area. Share what you found with a friend.
Engage in a courageous conversation with a white friend or family member about any of the following - racial equity trainings, processing and checking white privilege, systemic racism, the need for greater equity in the arts etc.
